Advanced Solar Photonics Announces Silicon Solar Panel Dicing and Scribing System

Advanced Solar Photonics, (ASP), a developer of laser scribing, laser marking, laser cutting, edge deletion & edge isolation laser systems for the solar industry, announces the Blackstar,™ a silicon solar panel dicing & scribing system.

Developed as an alternative to mechanical saws, which may damage thin and complex solar cell materials and substrates while cutting, the BlackStar™increases the yield per panel and maximizes throughput, while minimizing the heat affected zone. Designed specifically for solar cells and low-K substrates, this wafer dicing system is used for dicing many semiconductor materials and silicon composites in solar panel production. Utilizing Fantom Wafer Dicing Technology™ (FWDT™), which was developed by ASP’s parent company, Fonon, the BlackStar™ is highly accurate and 20 times faster than a mechanical saw.

“Not only does the BlackStar™ provide precision, accuracy and resolution which mechanical methods are unable to provide, said Kristen Bruenig, Market Manger for ASP, “using a BlackStar™ laser system, has additional significant advantages over other technologies, such as: eliminating the need for cleaning solutions which produce hazardous waste, having a cut edge that is free of stress and the elimination of micro-cracks, fragmentation or chipping.”

The researchers at Advanced Solar Photonics are dedicated to providing laser application solutions in the solar panel manufacturing industry. Utilizing state-of the-art Fiber Laser technology and proprietary processes and equipment, the Advanced Solar Photonics’ research team has developed the capabilities to now offer laser equipment specifically tailored to produce delicate solar panels.

Advanced Solar Photonics is located in a 318,000 square foot headquarters in Lake Mary, Florida employing an international team of technology driven professionals. Reaching out to the photovoltaic industry, ASP strives to lower manufacturing costs utilizing proven patented technology geared to improve and lower the cost per kilowatt. This technology is applicable to both the silicon and thin-film processes. For more information, please contact 407-829-2613.

Hot water. We all want it and love it. Everybody likes it to take a hot bath or shower. But it comes at a price.
